Paul Thomas Anderson is a busy man even when he’s not directing his own films or writing his own screenplays.

Word on the street is that he didn’t just polish the script for Scorsese’s new film, What Happens at Night; he completely rewrote it, something he’s done for both Scorsese and DiCaprio before.

For those who don’t know yet, What Happens at Night stars Leonardo DiCaprio, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, is based on Peter Cameron’s gothic novel about a couple traveling to a remote, snowy European town to adopt a baby.

Scorsese shot the film in Europe early this year, mainly the exterior sequences, over the course of about a month, before moving production to New York in April to focus on the interiors.

The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris, and Patricia Clarkson. Rodrigo Prieto lensed it, with the legendary Thelma Schoonmaker once again editing for Scorsese.
