Here in my Weekly Film Recap, I write brief evaluations for each film to discuss why they are worth watching. Some may be ones I didn’t enjoy, and I’ll try to squeeze those in as well. These can be films that I’ve already seen and recently rewatched, as well as films that have just been released in theaters.
Frankenstein / 2025 / Dir. Guillermo del Toro
I usually don’t connect with Del Toro’s films, mainly because to me they look artificial and feel like he spends more time on the visuals than the story, but I enjoyed his new film, Frankenstein. Del Toro adores monsters, but with the new film, he has heightened his genuine affection for them in a more grounded but emotional way.
If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You / 2025 / Dir. Mary Bronstein
